The Mines Advisory Group (MAG) is a British based Non-Governmental Organization engaged in the eradication of landmines and other unexploded ordnance. MAG’s mission is to build the futures of people affected by the remnants of conflict through responsive, quality-driven and progressive action. We remove the physical threat of injury and death and alleviate economic devastation. We provide clearance and education enabling an escape from the poverty and suffering caused by conflict. MAG has been working in the field of Humanitarian Mine Action in Cambodia since 1992.

Job Requirement :
  • Essential Experience
  • Experience of reporting on a timely and accurate basis, both externally and internally to the organization. 
  • Maintenance and repair experience of vehicles including Toyota Land Cruiser, Ford Ranger, Land Rover Defender and plant such as excavators. 
  • Experience of managing and capacity building a team
  • Previous experience of working on a large fleet of vehicles and dealing with maintenance and spare parts suppliers.
  • Essential Skills and Knowledge
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to coordinate and prioritize activities 
  • Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills (e.g. Word/Excel)
  • The ability to communicate with clarity and credibility on paper and face-to-face.
  • Verbal and written English language skills
  • Essential Aptitude
  • Innovative and proactive with a problem solving approach where systems can be improved
  • Determined and committed to the highest quality standards
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels internally and externally, including suppliers

Job Duties :
  • Position Purpose:
  • The post holder will be responsible for ensuring MAG’s vehicle fleet, generators, heavy plant and equipment are managed and maintained in such a manner as to support operations in the most efficient way possible. The primary responsibilities of the job are:
  • Ensuring effective and timely maintenance, servicing and repair of MAG vehicles/generators/heavy plant and equipment in order to minimize down time 
  • Implementing and enforcing vehicle/generators/heavy plant and equipment management, best practices, policies and procedures. Collaborate and advise the PMSS on development of policies and procedures.
  • Managing a team of Vehicle Fleet Assistants, delivery of training to national staff in order to strengthen capacity to conduct maintenance, repairs and use of vehicles/generators/heavy plant and equipment.
  • Main Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate, administer and monitor the maintenance, repair, replacement and logistics of vehicles/generators/heavy plant and equipment.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance programs are carried out as per schedule and monitor post repair performance. 
  • Supervise the timely repair and servicing of damaged vehicles/generators/heavy plant and equipment in order to minimize downtime
  • Ensure that a standardized monitoring sheet/logbook is in place for each vehicle/generator/heavy plant & equipment and that the process is monitored regularly.
  • Manage the inventory of spare parts and fuel for vehicles/generators/heavy plant and equipment, in coordination with the Store Keepers, in order to ensure an adequate supply of spares and fuel as well as appropriately authorized use.
  • Conduct analysis of vehicle status and make recommendations for timely replacement, including type of vehicles, spares etc. in order to improve cost-efficiency. Provide statistics on fuel consumption/maintenance/repairs for all vehicles and machine and advice on corrective actions when necessary.
  • Control transfer and movement of vehicles between project locations as required by operations 
  • Provide recommendations for lowering vehicle-operating expenses and reduce idle time of vehicles. Ensure all vehicle operation policies and systems are up to date and enforced within field operations 
  • Review and administer service contracts with MAG’s maintenance suppliers.
  • Assist in the recruitment, training and assessment of relevant staff.
  • Provide hands on supervision, quality control and where necessary coaching and mentoring of staff to ensure robust maintenance and vehicle safety is maintained at all times.
  • Security: 
  • Ensure that all communications equipment is maintained, repaired and replaced as necessary. 
  • Ensure that all vehicle incidents are reported in writing in a timely manner, and the information passed to the CD/TOM/PMSS for upward referral to HQ.
  • Manage and motivate team to perform to a high standard, conducting appraisal meetings in line with MAG policy and agree and review progress towards individual targets on a regular basis
