The Sihanouk Hospital Center of HOPE seeks to recruit a suitable and qualified candidate to fill a position of Advisor: Programs, Fundraising and Communications in the Communications and Development Department

Advisor: Programs, Fundraising and Communications
This position reports to the Executive Director of Sihanouk Hospital Center of HOPE with an essential role to support critical functions at one of Cambodia’s leading charity hospitals.  The position collaborates with national staff to achieve programs, fundraising and communications goals in addition to providing perspectives on development and implementation of strategic programs in Sihanouk Hospital Center of HOPE. 

Relationship : Position reports to Executive Director, with frequent collaboration with senior medical staff and departmental heads to achieve objectives.

• Masters degree in English, communications business, or similar role with at least 5 years experience in similar role. Extensive experience may be substituted for education.
• Demonstrable track record with practical experience with NGO, prefer international and cross cultural experience.
• Native English speaker or equivalent. Outstanding writing and editing skills. Ability to do coaching on effective writing (as requested.)
• Good understanding of program management, fundraising, and communications issues.
• Successful experience of managing, leading or coaching staff.
• Experience with developing supporter communication across a variety of media and designing, delivering and managing an effective communications strategy
• Successful experience or exposure to a variety of fundraising arenas including institutional donors, foundation, individual and corporate sources.
• Relevant IT skills and familiarity with social media.
• Commitment to SHCH core values including a deep commitment to serving the poor and vulnerable.
• Possess creativity, integrity, patience, perseverance and resilience. Self-motivated person able to work without close supervision.
• Able to work effectively in a diverse team environment.
• Willing to work additional hours at crucial times.

Development/Fundraising

• Continue and develop internal and external relationships to develop mission-related programs and services for SHCH and identify potential funding opportunities.
• Follow-up on funding prospects to ensure a close fit with strategic goals.
• Draft and refine (in close collaboration with national staff) concept notes and proposals. Ensure successful and timely submission of these documents to potential donors.

Communication

• Encourage staff to develop creative and engaging messages and tactics to increase supporters and awareness for SHCH.
• When requested, act as spokesperson and representative for a variety of functions.
• Write and/or edit concise, creative and compelling copy for e-newsletters, printed newsletters and other reports as requested by donors.
• Collaborate with staff to complete annual plans and objectives

Strategy and Planning

• Work with leadership and staff to conduct strategic thinking and proactive planning to achieve programmatic, fundraising and communications goals.
• Confer with HOPE worldwide leadership on specific tactics to support Cambodian initiatives.
• Assist in developing measurable and achievable objectives for departments and advise on M&E plan for the hospital.

General

• Contribute to the organization’s overall strategic direction as directed by the Executive Director.
• Support supervisors and line staff toward successful achievement of all identified goals and objectives, sharing best practice tools for project and program management.
• Develop a detailed knowledge of HOPE worldwide activities in Cambodia, awareness of HOPE worldwide’s Global Health and Human Services programs and consider shared goals of this network in programming and fundraising.
• Maintain appropriate confidentiality at all times.
• Carry out all duties with full regard to SHCH Policies.
• Other duties or projects as assigned.
