Context:

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission in Phnom Penh for administrative matters, the direct supervision of the National Medical Officer in Phnom Penh, the incumbent will be responsible for providing laboratory support to migration health assessments.

Classification: General Service Staff, Grade G5
Type of Appointment: Fixed term, one year with possibility of extension

• Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Education
    • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma from an accredited academic institution in Medical (Clinical) Laboratory Sciences, Microbiology or a related discipline
  • Experience
    • Three years of relevant laboratory experience in a busy institution, preferably in a laboratory
  • Languages
    • Fluency in English and Khmer is required.

• Perform laboratory procedures as assigned by the supervisor for pre-examination, examination and post-examination activities
• Ensure standards and the quality of laboratory procedures by strictly following the SOPs
• Adhere to bio-safety measures adopted in the laboratory minding the safety of oneself and others
• Organize and manage activities on assigned station for accurate, efficient and timely delivery of results
• Perform quality control activities for assigned stations and document results as required
• Maintain laboratory equipment in good working order and operate equipment appropriately following SOPs
• Manage laboratory stock and ensure that the equipment and consumables are sufficient for the anticipated work.
• Follow the established system of organized record keeping and information management for timely delivery of results, data collection, analysis and reporting for laboratory monitoring and facilitation of operational research
• Participate in development and updating of standard operation procedures as needed
• Ensure the confidentiality of the specimen following IOM rule and standards of conduct.
• Participate in the system of service improvement according to adopted work plan in the laboratory
• Perform such other duties as may be assigned

Only candidates residing in either the country of the duty station or from a location in a neighbouring country that is within commuting distance of the duty station will be considered. In all cases, a prerequisite for taking up the position is legal residency in the country of the duty station, or in the neighbouring country located within commuting distance, and work permit, as applicable.
