BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT FOR LAST MILE DISTRIBUTION NETWORK

Since its creation in 1998 the French NGO, Entrepreneurs du Monde, has been working with communities in developing countries. The organisation enables thousands of women and men living in extremely difficult circumstances to improve their living conditions: it provides support for their own economic initiatives and helps them gain access to products offering significant health, economic and environmental benefits. It helps these people to be successful, which in turn enables them to make economic and social progress.
Since 2006, Entrepreneurs du Monde is supporting the local social microfinance institution Chamroeun providing technical, operational and financial assistance. The NGO also launched in 2012 a social enterprise program to facilitate access to modern and economic energy solutions to all.

However, the position is within a tripartite partnership (see below), and decisions and objectives relating to the post will be taken in a collaborative manner with all parties involved.

Job Description :

POSITION SUMMARY
In Cambodia, 75% of households are not connected to grid electricity and 95% are still relying on traditional fuels for cooking. Rural an peri-urban population are yet using rudimentary technologies for lighting or cooking which are very affordable to buy but with poor energy efficiency.
In 2006 Entrepreneurs du Monde launched a social microfinance program in Cambodia which became later Chamroeun, an independent local MFI. Directly working with Chamroeun’s beneficiaries, vulnerable micro-entrepreneurs and households, Entrepreneurs du Monde realized how much the lack of access to clean energy increases poverty and affect the environment. The NGO started a program to facilitate access to clean and affordable energy for all.
This program is conducted under a partnership between Entrepreneurs du Monde, Chamroeun and NRG Solutions, a Cambodian social business specialized in the distribution of impacting solutions (solar lighting and TV kits; efficient cookstoves) with proven quality sales and after-sales services records.
The 3 entities are working together to develop a last mile distribution network recruiting, training and supporting independent micro-franchised resellers. The sales force is in charge of the promotion and sales. Financial facilities including energy loan products are offered to the end-users or resellers

Job Requirement :

EXPERIENCE

  • Diploma in either economics, sales, marketing & communication, development, etc.
  • Experience of at least 3 years in business development, marketing or training targeting peri-urban and rural populations.
  • Experience in managing people carrying out market and/or other research.
  • Experience as a salesperson in private sector distribution or as social worker in an NGO for awareness activities.

Job Duties :
  • Marketing strategy and tools
  • Develop / expand the brand strategy under the Distribution network, focusing on BoP products.
  • Identify the most efficient promotional and distribution channels to reach our targeted customers.
  • Develop awareness and promotional tools (methodology, material, content).
  • Finalize a "New Operating Area" launching package (manual, processes, resources required, promotional tools,etc.).
  • Sales Force recruitment & training
  • Support the definition and updating of job descriptions and contracts for sales agents.
  • Support the definition and updating of terms & conditions for independent franchised resellers and key partner networks.
  • Coordinate sales force recruitments (including identification of sales staff, resellers and key networks)
  • Define and create a training methodology, content and tools relevant to the various modules (sales force, resellers, key networks, end-users).
  • Coordinate and participate to training session.
  • Awareness, Promotion and Sales
  • Coordinate awareness and promotional activities on the field in collaboration with the Network manager on a daily basis.
  • Support the implementation of up-to-date data-entry related to awareness, promotion and sales activities with associated records.
  • Support effective stock management, availability of products and proper maintenance of records.
  • Follow-up quality of services at the customer level.
  • Support setting-up and launching of new operating areas.
  • Support the sales force in providing access to appropriate tools, training, stock, in line with the market requirements.
  • Monitoring & Evaluation and Development
  • Support the preparation and delivery of timely weekly and monthly operations and financial reports.
  • Coordinate research on the field such as market research, product testing, customer satisfaction surveys and impact studies.
  • Review sales force performance and define potential corrective actions to improve this.
  • Organizational Structuring and Development
  • Research compliance and registration requirements for EdM Cambodia as regards relations to public institutions
  • Support EdM in bureaucratic and administrative relations with public institutions
  • Support EdM in the preparation and submission of reports to public bodies
  • Represent, as requested, EdM in meeting with public institutions
  • Support the network in various structural developments of the distribution network
