Introduction :

Footprints International School (FIS) is a school dedicated to raising the quality of education in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.   Established in 2007, the school has grown from just 10 students and has spread across 3 branches (5 campuses), with students from Nursery to Grade 10. We run a bilingual program, allowing students to develop competence in Khmer and English, which covers a core curriculum focused around the 4 disciplines of math, language arts, science and social studies.  Computers, health, art, music, swimming and PE are incorporated throughout our program of learning to achieve a more integrated approach to education. FIS is licensed with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and is internationally accredited with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Footprints International School is also registered with Cambridge International Examinations for our primary and secondary programs.

Job Requirement :
  • A minimum of 5, preferably 8, years’ experience in a senior role
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred
  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
  • Up to date knowledge of current financial and accounting computer applications
  • Excellent verbal, analytical, organizational and written skills
  • Flexible and a team-player
Job Duties :
  • As a member of the management team, the CFO will serve as a credible, knowledgeable and trusted resource to the ED and BOD. This position is a hands-on and quality-focused financial executive with the experience that combines sound financial leadership with proven business effectiveness.
  • The CFO is responsible for the financial management of the organization to include budget analysis and management, financial modeling and reporting, cost benefit analysis, forecasting needs, accounting and treasury operations, mergers & acquisitions and investment strategies. The CFO will offer quality, meaningful analyses, and financial perspectives necessary for corporate decisions and strategic planning. In addition to providing financial leadership to Footprints International School (FIS), this position will be responsible for the administration, planning, forecasting and analysis of the financial risk based models of the business.
  • Principal duties are:
    • Planning
      • Assist in formulating FIS’ future direction and supporting initiatives
      • Create, monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans
      • Manage the capital request and budgeting processes
      • Develop and promote a framework to drive financial acumen and accountability across the organization; provide timely and meaningful analyses and reporting to ED
      • Collaborate with ED on developing the operating budget. Oversee long-term budgetary planning and cost management in alignment with the strategic plan
      • Develop and maintain appropriate product level models to ensure adequate pricing coverage and enhance decision making
      • Provide guidance on attracting and developing key team members
      • Develops financial strategies by forecasting capital, facilities, and staff requirements; identifying monetary resources; developing action plans
    • Operations
      • Manage the accounting, human resources, operations, investor relations, legal, tax, and treasury departments
      • Manage any third parties to which functions have been outsourced
      • Oversee the company's transaction processing systems
      • Implement operational best practices
      • Oversee employee benefit plans, with particular emphasis on maximizing a cost-effective benefits package
      • Lead and coordinate an integrated financial planning process which includes inputs from sales, product, and operational expense units
      • Responsible for facilities and asset management of the organization
      • Review all formal finance and IT related procedures, processes, and administration, recommending improvements to the systems in place and managing the systems going forward
      • Establish efficient workflows and business processes to meet the need of financial information of multiple internal and external stakeholders
      • Maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations
    • Financial Information
      • Oversees all financial transactions, including billing, finance, accounting and reporting
      • Prepare materials and present, as necessary, financial information to Board of Directors or other committees. Prepare and communicate monthly and financial statements
      • Provide timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports, and financial forecasting
      • Provide financial discipline and business decision support to evaluate long term and short term strategic business opportunities
      • Develop and monitor policies and procedures within general accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and corporate guidelines to ensure sufficient cash flow, reduce operating costs, and increase revenues
      • Maintain general ledger structure, chart of accounts, policies and procedures to enable financial statement preparation and compliance with all required financial audits
      • Advise on contract negotiations from a financial impact perspective
    • Risk Management
      • Monitor all open legal issues involving the company, and legal issues affecting the industry
      • Construct and monitor reliable control systems
      • Ensure that FIS complies with all legal and regulatory requirements
      • Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies
      • Report risk issues to the ED or BOD when necessary
      • Conduct due diligence and recommendation on the timing and implementation and of significant development or technology investments
      • Design and maintain a robust claims reserving process that is in compliance with actuarial standards (applicable to potential new lines of business)
    • Funding
      • Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts
      • Provide timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports, and financial forecasting
      • Arrange for debt and equity financing
      • Maximizes return on invested funds by identifying investment opportunities; maintaining relationships with the investment community
    • Team Management
      • Develop and lead direct staff, including Finance and Information Technology (IT) staff
      • Work with ED and BOD on the strategic vision of the organization including cultivating and fostering strategic relationships and potential alliances; engage in the growth agenda including organic and acquisition strategies
      • Partner with the ED and BOD on operational and strategic issues as they arise; provide strategic recommendations based on financial analysis and projections, and revenue/expense analysis
      • Responsible for oversight of financial internal controls and coordination of all financial audits
      • Collaborate with Human Resources on payroll checking and benefit strategies including, but not limited to, benefits and salary increases, thus providing the most competitive packages for the organization’s employees
      • Maintain external relationships with banks, auditors, and third party vendors
